This awesome eagle had just finished snatching this bass when I arrived. He was trying to get to a comfortable position to begin his meal and he kept opening and closing his wings. The poses were awesome, compared to the folded wings, so I painted the wings open. One of the challenges of these big birds is to NOT make them look heavy; this pose really made me feel like this Eagle is buoyant, and a master of the air.

"LEARNING THE GAME"

We found this baby Gator in a little waterhole and put him in a wheel barrow with a little water while I sketched and photographed him. Young gators have a protective coloring that kind of mimics dappled light and I remember being struck by how really handsome he was. This painting was the result and it's included in my book "Painting Nature's Little Creatures".

"SPRING ARRIVAL"

This little bunny was with three others in our backyard among the passion vine, we watched them for several days. They were very cautious and rarely out in the open, so I felt the painting should follow this line. I placed the bunny off center, not obvious. Then I covered him a little with some leaves and placed a passion flower on the left to help draw attention away from the bunny.
