Necia and I were hiking in North Carolina and along side the trail was this very scene. The bumblebee was resting on the fallen leaf, yellow and glowing like a beacon. It seemed that the leaf was functioning as a landing pad for the bumblebee and the painting was well on its way. Interestingly the bumblebee was probably a queen and looking for a burrow to over winter and had crawled over the leaf when we saw her. This image is part of "The Little Jewel Series"
