As I have grown as an artist I have become very aware of light, and painting great light, along this line I have wanted to paint a backlit Roseate Spoonbill for a long time. A friend took this shot and I just loved it, I asked if I could use the bird in a painting and he graciously agreed, “Morning Salute” is the result!
