The Catch

This gorgeous eagle had just landed and was trying to find a comfortable position to begin dinner. I love painting eagles, I sign my paintings with a small eagle, and I feel a very special affinity for eagles. The trick with eagles and frankly all birds when painting them is to make them seem buoyant, light, and airy.  The feathers should be contoured and smooth, not like shingles or tiles on a roof. I think this one is buoyant!
