I absolutely love watching and painting Hummingbirds. They flow like liquid, graceful and purposeful! I also love Lichen and Fungi which really fill this painting. Old mans beard always intrigues me so I included it. Hummingbirds also eat insects and one of their favorite foods might be spiders. The handsome male is flashing his very beautiful red gorget, possibly there is another male nearby that needs to know that he's not sharing the green spider he has found.
